Berths at Hamble Point Marina

Hamble, is well known across the world for its connections to yachting. Located between Portsmouth and Southampton, both of which are steeped in Maritime History. Hamble was the home of Spitfire, Lancaster and Wellington aircraft. Fairey Aviation who built the Fairey Hamble Baby Floatplane in 1917, was based at Hamble Point Marina.

Hamble Point Marina is located at the mouth of Southampton Water. It is the closest mainland marina with access to the Solent. It is popular with both racers and cruisers. The marina has an on-site bar/restaurant, laundry facilities and the on-site tenants offer a wide variety of services that you may wish to use.

The marina can hold up to 230 boats up to 30m in length and has a working boatyard with a crane and a dry stack. It’s minutes from Port Hamble Marina which has a fuel berth. Hamble Point Marina has the Yacht Harbour Association’s Five Gold Anchors award.

The closest village is Hamble Le Rice, a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from Hamble Point. Hamble village has a convenience shop, hairdressers, beauty salons, gift shops and a wide variety of popular bars and restaurants.

Sublet berths for annual rent

MDL berth owners can sublet their lease berths as long as the rate for the berth does not undercut MDL’s current pricing. The price quoted below is the current MDL rate less VAT.

• 8 weeks storage ashore (subject to availability and local restrictions). After 8 weeks, storage ashore will be charged at the rate published in the marina’s additional services tariff.

• 4% on short stays and paid storage ashore at other MDL marinas

Long lease berths for sale

We regularly hear from owners that the main reason for buying, rather than renting a marina berth, is to fix their berthing costs. We try to make it easy to compare with renting the same-size berth in the same marina.

12.5m berth for sale

The 12.5m berth is for sale for £54,000 plus an annual service of £2,500. You can moor until 2034.

This berth currently has a tenant in situ until end of March 2027. This tenant pays the owner rental income payable pro-rated to the new berth owner.

Assuming no increase in annual service charge, this = an annual cost of owning this berth of £9,250.

During the berthing year 2025/26, the rate for renting a 12.5m berth at Hamble Point Marina is £14,272.13.

Therefore, the saving you would make each year over renting would be £5,022.13, or £40,177.04 over the lifetime of ownership of the berth.

In actuality, over the period of the lease, you will save more money per annum as the marina increases its annual rental charges.

14m berth for sale

The 14m berth is for sale for £70,000 plus an annual service of £2,800. You can moor until 2034.

This berth currently has a tenant in situ until end of March 2027. This tenant pays the owner rental income payable pro-rated to the new berth owner.

Assuming no increase in annual service charge, this = an annual cost of owning this berth of £11,550.

During the berthing year 2026/27, the rate for renting a 14m berth at Hamble Point Marina is £17,892.98.

Therefore, the saving you would make each year over renting would be £6,342.98, or £50,743.84 over the lifetime of ownership of the berth.

19m berth for sale

The 19m berth is for sale for £95,000 plus an annual service of £3,700. You can moor until 2035.

Assuming no increase in annual service charge, this = an annual cost of owning this berth of £14,255.55.

During the berthing year 2026/27, the rate for renting a 19m berth at Hamble Point Marina is £24,283.33.

Therefore, the saving you would make each year over renting would be £10,027.78 or £90,250.02 over the lifetime of owning the berth.

Location and travel information

Hamble Point Marina is a 10-minute drive from J8 of the M27. The M27 offers easy connections to both the M3 and the A3. It is also a 20-minute drive from Southampton airport – SOU.

If travelling in by train, the closest mainline station is next to the airport, Southampton Airport Parkway train station which has a regular service to London Waterloo. There is a small train station in Hamble, a 5-minute drive away from Hamble Point.
