Location and travel information
The main cities of Florence, Pisa, Siena and Rome are all less than 2 hours drive away. The Marina is a 1 hour 15 mins drive from Pisa International Airport – PSA. If flying into Rome or Florence International airports the journey will take around 2-2.5 hours by car.
If you are travelling in your own plane, the marina is 40 minutes away from Grosseto’s jet airport and only 6 minutes from the nearest Helipad station in Scarlino.
Marina di Scarlino is well placed to visit some of the most well known Italian landmarks. Such as the wine regions of Bolgheri and Chianti, the historical city of Siena, the Colosseum of Rome, the Pisa’s tower, the old and artistic areas of Florence or some of the most characteristic towns of Tuscany, such as San Gimignano and the natural thermal waters of Saturnia.
The precious little village of Bolgheri is the land of excellent wines, such as Sassicaia, considered to be one of the finest Italian red wine. Bolgheri area is just 45 mins away by car from Marina di Scarlino.
Another pearl of Tuscany is the little walled village of San Gimignano. Famous for its fascinating medieval architecture and towers that rise above of all the other buildings offering an impressive view of the city from the surrounding valley. The traditional town is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990 and it’s possible to get there in around 2 hours by car from the marina.
The most convenient way to get to the historical town of Siena is either by car or bus. The journey will take about 1-1.5 hours.
